About THE ARTIST
Elaine at her waterside studio
Elaine Wilson travels the globe in search of scenes filled with light, color and beauty. From the beaches of California to Italy's coastal and lakeside towns, she creates paintings that transport viewers away from their everyday concerns. She looks for scenes with dramatic light and shadow to paint “plein air” on the spot, or photograph and paint in her studio in Valencia. Her brushstrokes and use of rich subtle color work together to express her feelings about the sunlit beaches, colorful buildings and cultivated gardens she is visiting.
Elaine received a BS degree from the California State University of Northridge, and then continued her art studies at the California Art Institute, BMAI and Associates in Art. She has also studied with painters Marcia Burtt, Elizabeth Tolley, David Gallup, Lynn Gertenbach, Anita Hampton, Meredith Brooks Abbott, Thomas Van Stein, and Margot Lennartz. Elaine exhibits her work at numerous juried art shows and galleries.
